Atmospheric Flow at Alcantara Launch Center

چکیده
The Alcantara Launch Center (ALC) is the main Brazilian access to space. It positioned over a complex terrain, and it has some important buildings for assembling, integration launching activities, such as Mobile Integration Tower. Being in region of prevalent trade winds, flow interaction between terrain can affect safety operations on platform, dispersion toxic gases emitted during launching. objective this work was study influence topography atmospheric ALC using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) techniques. Three geometries were considered: simplified (case 1), smooth 2), roughness 3). conditions simulated ANSYS Fluent 19.0 CFD commercial code. numerical simulations used realizable ?-? model turbulence effects results presented good agreement with in-situ field measurements most geometry clearly influences pattern at ALC, cliff wind being major cause establishing patterns.

Performance Evaluation of the High-altitude Launch Technique to Orbit Using Atmospheric Properties
The purpose of this paper is to perform the feasibility and performance evaluation of the High-altitude launch technique using high altitude atmospheric Properties to near earth orbits. The current propulsion transportation system from Earth to space has been deemed by many to be expensive, unreliable, and an unnecessarily dangerous means of travel to space. It is suggested in this paper to ana...

متن کاملMixed Convection Flow in a Rectangular Ventilated Cavity with a Heat Conducting Solid Circular Cylinder at the Center
A numerical investigation has been carried out for mixed convection flow in a rectangularventilated cavity with a heat conducting solid circular cylinder at the center. Forced convection flowconditions were imposed by providing an inlet at the bottom of the left wall and an outlet vent at the topto the other sidewall. In this paper, the effect of cavity aspect ratio as well as the mixed convect...
متن کاملAtmospheric Escape at Mars
Introduction: Several mechanisms have been identified to result in escape of the Martian atmosphere. These mechanisms can be divided in two groups [1]: • Thermal escape or Jeans escape, which corresponds to the loss of atoms in the high energy tail of the energy distribution at the exobase. This mechanism is important only for the light species such as hydrogen or deuterium. • Non-thermal escap...
